From November 13 to 26, 2019, I had the privilege of attending the Start and Improve Your Business (SIYB) Training of Master Trainers, an intensive program supported by the International Labour Organization (ILO) and funded by the Swedish Government. This high-level training aimed to certify and license nine of Afghanistan’s top SIYB trainers as Master Trainers for a period of three years, ensuring the sustainability and continued growth of the SIYB program across the country.
The SIYB program has played a critical role in fostering entrepreneurship and business development worldwide, particularly in economies like Afghanistan, where small businesses and self-employment are essential pathways to economic resilience. The success of this program depends on highly skilled trainers who can equip aspiring entrepreneurs with the knowledge and tools needed to start and expand their businesses.
The training was facilitated by Mr. Julius Mutio, a renowned SIYB Master Trainer Developer with over 30 years of experience. Under his guidance, the top nine SIYB trainers in Afghanistan engaged in advanced methodologies, business training techniques, and strategies to enhance their impact as Master Trainers.
This certification ensures that they can now train and mentor new SIYB trainers, further expanding the reach of the program and strengthening Afghanistan’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.
At the conclusion of the training, the newly certified Master Trainers were formally introduced to Afghanistan’s business development market, marking a significant step forward in building a network of highly qualified trainers dedicated to empowering entrepreneurs and fostering economic growth.
This experience reaffirmed my commitment to entrepreneurship education and capacity building. As a certified SIYB Trainer and Business Consultant, I look forward to continuing my efforts to support business development initiatives and help shape a future where Afghan entrepreneurs have the skills and resources they need to thrive.
