Education has always been the foundation of progress, and in late 2013, I took a significant step toward empowering Afghan youth and adults through language learning. Alongside my friend and business partner, Shekeb Shadab Ghiasi, we established the English World Association, a language school dedicated to providing high-quality English education based on international standards.
After working for several years in both civil and non-civil organizations as an English instructor, I realized the immense need for a structured, high-standard English learning system in Afghanistan. This realization became the spark that ignited my journey into entrepreneurship and adult education. Our goal was clear:
✅ Offer an internationally recognized curriculum tailored for Afghan learners.
✅ Prepare students for TOEFL & IELTS to help them secure international scholarships.
✅ Develop a comprehensive teaching methodology aligned with global standards.
To achieve this, we introduced the Your English System (YES)—a specialized curriculum designed by English language experts from the United States. This system was adapted to fit the Afghan culture, traditions, and market demands, ensuring that students could learn English in a way that resonated with their daily lives and future aspirations.
Our curriculum followed a one-year structured program, consisting of:
📚 Seven textbooks for students
📖 Instructor’s teaching guides
🎧 Audio materials to enhance listening skills
📝 Grammar books with a simple yet complete approach
📙 A detailed dictionary with essential vocabulary
🔤 An idioms and expressions guide for real-world communication
We divided the academic year into four two-month semesters and a final four-month advanced semester, ensuring that students progressed step by step toward fluency.
Over the years, thousands of students—both young and adult learners—graduated from English World Association with the ability to communicate confidently in English. Many of our students went on to pursue higher education, secure jobs, and explore global opportunities.
In 2016, I moved on to larger entrepreneurship and education projects, but my partnership in the school somehow remained. My friend Shekeb Shadab Ghiasi took full responsibility and continued the mission, ensuring that the school thrived and helped even more students achieve their goals.
However, in mid-2021, due to the political changes in Afghanistan and the unfortunate restrictions on women’s education, English World Association was forced to shut down. This was not just the end of a school—it was a heartbreaking pause in the dreams of many students who sought knowledge and a better future.
Although the school is no longer operational, its impact remains. The knowledge, skills, and empowerment it provided to thousands of students continue to shape their lives. My journey with English World Association was a stepping stone in my entrepreneurial path, reinforcing my dedication to business education, adult learning, and supporting Afghan entrepreneurs.
While challenges persist, the spirit of education and entrepreneurship will always find new ways to flourish. The dream does not end—it only evolves.
🌍 Education is the key to progress. The more we learn, the more we grow.
